What is the City Stadium Run For Veterans? The best way to answer this question is to briefly explain the three goals associated with the run.
To showcase historic City Stadium, home of the Green Bay Packers from 1925-1956. In 2002, City Stadium was renovated to the tune of $300,000 to help embrace the proud history of the Green Bay Packers. Some of the features of the stadium you will see are a new sign, gate, memorial garden and historic plaques of Packers history when they called City Stadium home.
To feature and showcase the beautiful green parks and pedestrian trails along the 5K course. The course will take you through three gorgeous parks tucked along the East River utilizing the East River Trail and the Cora Vanderperren Trail. You will get the feel of being in a small town setting when you are actually just minutes from downtown Green Bay!
To help and showcase our Veterans. Each year we will earmark a Veteran cause for our proceeds. The first three year's have generated over $27,000 for our worthy men and women who served our country. We are so excited to announce that Musicorps and the Wounded Warrior Band will be this year’s beneficiary for the 4th annual City Stadium Run for Veterans. What is Musicorps? Musicorps is a music rehabilitation program for wounded warriors at Walter Reed that uniquely meets their needs, helping them play music and recover their lives. MusiCorps integrates regular visits by accomplished musicians who serve as mentors, the use of traditional instruments along with computer workstations and custom equipment, and projects tailored to individual circumstances, interests, and goals. Working in a variety of styles, and overcoming any obstacles, wounded warriors are able to learn, play, write, record, and perform music as a core part of their rehabilitation. During long and difficult recoveries, MusiCorps brings activity, purpose, and joy, and aids recovery from war-related trauma, including PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and TBI (traumatic brain injury).
